March 5th Class

Radio

Instead of me lecturing you guys today, you will be the ones getting all the information. Today’s topic is radio. In your lecture notes, under the title ‘Radio’ find the answers to the following questions.

·      What is radio?
·      How does a radio work?
·      What was radio in the 20th century? The highlights (may help to design a timeline)
·      Uses of radio (as many as you can find)
·      What is digital audio broadcasting?
·      How does it work?
·      What is a podcast?
·      Brief history of the podcast.
·      Types of podcasting

When your notes are done find and listen to 3 podcasts. They can be found at the link below (make sure you are listening in English!) they are available through the itunes store.

When you have finished listening to the podcast write a brief summary of each, what you liked what you didn’t and post to your blog.

When your review had been posted find a partner (there will be one group of three) and you will be working on creating your very own 10 minute podcast.

Your podcast maybe about anything you would like, but both people must speak during the podcast. In order to make your podcast you will be using the Mac program ‘GarageBand’.

Using the link below read through the tutorial to learn how to create a podcast;

When you have an idea how to make a podcast you can begin working on your own, Follow these steps to get yourself started.
1.     Pick a topic.
2.     Plan out what you are going to say, (create a script)
3.     Be creative with what you are talking about.

REMEMBER EVERYONE HAS TOO SPEAK IN ENGLISH!

You will be playing your podcast for the class, on Friday!
